Titus 3:9a But avoid foolish disputes
I am blessed to have a great dad. (He will turn 96 in 10 days!) Among the many things he taught me was, “You don’t have to say everything you think.” He said that to me many times in my growing up years. (I leave it to you to determine why!) But there is obvious wisdom in that pithy little saying.
Another sentiment closely connected to it is, “You can’t unsay something.” How many of us wish we could have a moment in time back. Our friends and loved ones can and often do forgive our hasty words, but that doesn’t mean they are ever completely forgotten.
Imagine if all social media had an iron-clad policy to uphold Paul’s words to Titus. If all foolish disputes were avoided probably 80% of the content would be gone! They wouldn’t need to be building so many server farms!
We really don’t have to say everything we think. We don’t have to type everything we think. Avoid foolish disputes. If we could begin to apply this one Scriptural command everyone’s lives would see a drastic improvement. I, for one, am willing to try.
Blessings,
Pastor Russ
