Revelation 21:27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
I got a new car this week! It’s really great. One thing I noticed right away is that if I have the key fob in my pocket I can just open the door. I don’t have to push a button or do any extra step. The door can be locked but not to me - not if I have that key fob! Getting in is seamless.
The ending of the Book of Revelation, and of all the Bible, speaks of the eternal destiny of people. Many people have thought about what it takes to get to Heaven. Some think that it involves a balancing of the scales - “If I do more good things than bad things, I’ll get in.” But that’s not enough. Others think they clearly merit entry because they are better than other people. But that’s not enough. Even if they’re good, good is not good enough!
Scripture’s pretty clear - your name has to be written in the Lamb’s book of life. But how does that happen? If we confess our sins, repent of our sins, and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of our life then our name gets written in that book! I’m not good enough for entry. You’re not good enough for entry. Only Jesus is truly good enough. But He made a way for us.
I used to worry about what would happen when I die. I used to be really concerned about ‘getting in.’ But now I know that my name’s written in that book and because of that, when I approach that door, it will just open to me! Getting in will be seamless!
Blessings,
