Revelation 14:6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people
Have you ever known someone who seemed to have a one-track mind? It seems they are always going on about their one favorite topic, whatever it might be. No news of the day, happening at work, or story you share will cause them to veer from their deal.
When we read the book of Revelation, we often come to it with nervousness. We wonder what’s going to happen. We look at our world, then look back at Revelation trying to make some connection that we might know what to prepare for. If only we knew what God was thinking. What message would He send?
In chapter 14 we get the answer, but we might be surprised. He sends an angel (angel means messenger) flying out of Heaven to deliver a message. Yes! Finally! A word from God! And what is that message? It’s the Gospel. The Gospel? Yes, of course it’s the Gospel.
Read the New Testament and from Matthew to Revelation you’ll see that God has more of a one-track mind than anyone you’ve ever met! It’s always the Gospel, the Good News! Jesus came to suffer and die on the cross to save us from our sins. If He had not done that we would be hopelessly lost and destined for hell for eternity. But because He did, we can accept His offer of salvation.
Also, when you do read the New Testament, you’ll also see that generally speaking, God isn’t relying on angels - Heavenly messengers - to spread the Gospel, but messengers like us. If God has a one-track mind fixed on the Gospel, maybe we should also!
Blessings,
Pastor Russ
