Isaiah 35:5  Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 

Some years ago I started seeing these ‘magic eye’ pictures. They look like some sort of digital image gone wrong. But they promised a hidden image if you looked at it just right. I tried and saw nothing. Try as I might, I couldn’t see anything. I questioned whether there was even a secret picture there. I questioned whether anyone could see it - people were probably just kidding themselves. Then there was one day when I picked up a calendar with these images. I stared and focused and refocused and then it sort of clicked into place and I saw that image! I could even look around the page and find details! Once I saw it it seemed so obvious!

Jesus healed a man born blind in Jerusalem and it was big news! A blind man received his sight! But that’s actually what Jesus came to do. He is in the regular business of restoring sight to the blind. We are born spiritually blind. Try as we might, we cannot see Him. We might even determine that God isn’t real. All those other people are just kidding themselves. After all, if I can’t see Him…

But God is calling to everyone. Jesus is patiently knocking on the door of hearts. If we will open the door - if we will respond to Him, He will show Himself to us. We will see Him as we never thought possible. When that happens and our eyes are opened we’ll see Him and His work in the world. It will seem so obvious!
