Jeremiah 32:17 Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.
I have many memories of my dad taking me fishing. He taught me, not only where to look for the best places to fish and what kinds of weather were good, but also how to handle the equipment. I remember when I got a bait casting reel. It takes time to get the hang of that kind of reel. Until you do, you can easily end up with a snarl. Early on, I would hand that to my dad. I looked at that bird’s nest of line and knew it was impossible. But dad always managed to untangle it. He always came through.
We often end up with a tangled mess in our lives. Sometimes it’s our own fault for not living as God prescribes. Some times it’s due to others in our lives doing that. Sometimes we might not know why or even what happened. But we’ve gotten a snarl. There just seems no way to begin, let alone fix what’s wrong. It looks impossible.
But we should remember that God made the heavens and earth by His great power! Jeremiah said He made it with His outstretched arm, but that’s just a figure of speech. The reality is more impressive - He made it with a word! Shouldn’t I have confidence that if He could do that, He could untangle the snarl that’s been made of my life?
I just have to admit that I can’t do it and then hand the whole mess to Him. There is nothing too hard for Him. He’ll come through!
