I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
In a world before the internet, I was taught that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. It wasn’t a bad piece of advice then, but now it’s even more important to remember! A large percentage of emails I get would fall into this category. I’d like to believe someone wants to give me a lot of money, or that someone thinks my Instagram profile shows I’m just the kind of person they’re looking for. But probably not.
Jesus came to earth 2,000 years ago on a mission. He came to seek and save that which was lost. He came to reconcile man to God. The only way we will ever see God is if we are righteous. God doesn’t grade on a curve! When Jesus was on the cross, He said, “It is finished!” The work that He had come to do was accomplished. The debt had been paid.
He gave the gift. However, we must accept it. We must confess our sins. What He did is available to all, but we have to opt in. If we never confess our sins to Him, we will never receive the benefit. But if we do He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness!
God demands righteousness as the entry price for eternal life. Righteousness is available to us for the asking. It sounds too good to be true, but this time, it is true! Jesus provided a gift. We just have to accept it!
Blessings,
Pastor Russ
